Aloha Friday-Birthdays

TGIF!

The question for today is: What is your favourite thing to do for a friend's birthday?

In a few short days I shall be turning 40 and I am rather excited. I have always loved birthdays, especially after my stroke. Each year is treasured. Some dear friends (you know who you are) sent me a box of See's Chocolates (the best chocolates ever) and at the time of this writing another gift is on the way (it should be arriving between 10:30 and 11am). I will of course, blog about both.

Visit An Island Life for more fun Aloha Fridays.

So many people leave "happy birthdays" on facebook. I try to meet up with my friend or just give them a phone call.

Dinner out, we did that a few months ago for a friend's bday and it was so much fun

See's Candy? Are you kidding? I looooove and drool for them! :-)

When it comes to birthdays (or any day, really), my girlfriends and I EAT, EAT, EAT! We meet for lunch or dinner and talk the day away. Whatever else we do after (movies, spa, dancing sometimes) is just bonus.

Happy Birthday soon! 40 is lots of fun.

Definitely girls time. Oddly enough slumber parties are a blast! Whether it's in someone's home or @ a hotel.

If it's a local friend, I like going out for coffee and shopping with a friend grabbing a bite to eat later in the day.
If it's a friend who is not so local, I just LOVE sending surprises.
I'm glad you're enjoying your See's chocolate. :) Let the countdown to 10:30 begin!

These days, just being able to take a friend out to lunch without kids, and have a full conversation would be a dream.
The best bday treat I ever had for a friend was for my bff in my mid-late 20s. We worked and played together. She was always there for me through a very emotionally abusive relationship.

For her birthday I brought her a small gift each day and left it on her desk in the morning. Just something like her favorite snack, a plant for her desk...little stuff. Then I had a surprise party for her at our favorite bar and gave her a handbag she'd been wanting. It was such fun to treat her to all the surprises ;D

Hope you have a great birthday!

LOVED turning 40.
It was the last time I was carded. The lady at the grocery store screamed "you don't look 40" and the entire store came to a screeching halt. honest :)

Just went to Wash. D.C. ( only a 2-3 hr drive from where we live) - we've done this 3 or 4 times and usually spend 2 nights celebrating the "big" birthdays - there's 8 of us - it's a blast! Once we ate dinner in Georgetown at a cool Italian restaurant and in walked Susan Lucchi from "All my Children" - One of the girls went crazy with excitement and we made sooo much fun of her ~ LOL. Another time we went to a really fun play at the Kennedy center - it's fun just being together and laughing and talking and getting away for just a few days!

Whatever she wants to do! I'm sure it would involve cocktails though. lol

I like dinner and drinks followed up with a pedicure. All though maybe you shouldn't pick out nail color after you tossed a few back!

I hope that you have a lovely birthday!

I like to take a little brightly wrapped SOMETHING over, and a handmade card...something they can stick on the mantle and say, "Hey! Someone remembered my birthday!"

Letting them pick what they want. I'm happy to make dinner at home, take them out for coffee, meet them for breakfast, whatever it is they want. My one friend, her husband just doesn't like Italian at all. So it's fun to take her out for Italian food.

Love to actually take the friend home for a few good drinks at my house and then some cake that i made for them, and then some good conversation and board games/ card games.
