Pumpkins-Aloha Friday

Seeing how it is Friday, today's question is going to require as little brain power as possible.

The question for today: Do you carve pumpkins? If so, are they scary, silly, or fun?

We do carve pumpkins, but alas we lack all creativity so we look for templates first, then carve. We do not make scary pumpkins. I think last year we had; one of a cat with a moon in the background, one of a series of trees without leaves with a full moon, and finally a bat silhouetted by a full moon. I did mention we were not creative, yes?

i like to carve them, but haven't done so in many years. i bought these really cool metal stake designs, like a witch with a hat on and her hands. you take the three pieces and jab them into the pumpkin. it makes a little character and there is no mess. the pumpkins last a lot longer too. i bought a black cat as well. aloha and take care.

I used to carve them when my kids were small. Now I'd rather make a pie or bread with one than carve it.

On the few occasions I am NOT lazy to carry a pumpkin to my car from the store ;-), I only carve smiley faces. I've never like scary pumpkin faces!

Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't. We're kind of hit and miss with it. We always have them, but don't always carve them! I've even been known to just let the kids decorate them and draw a face with permanent marker.

We still carve pumpkins! I like words... you know "welcome" or "boo" but my eldest son loves scary ones. Hubby is boring. 3 triangles and a sill grin for his pumpkin.

The last time I carved them was two years ago, and it literally took all my free time for one whole day. It was awful! I'm never carving again until the kids are both old enough to really help! We'll probably paint or glue decorations on our pumpkins this year.

I'm guilty of hating Halloween. =(
I don't do much for it..and my boys have suffered because of it.

I don't even buy pumpkins =(

We don't. I use the new stick on Jack O Lantern decorations...so cute! Always silly, too...my girls wouldn't like scary.

mu hubby normally enjoyed doing that with the boys while i was at work... might have to do it this year!

We have carved before, but no one enjoyed it...the guts, seeds and knife handling. We are not so great with those. So we bought some pre-made Jack-O-lanterns and make sure they burn bright with their bulbs.

Our boys are finally at the age where we may carve a pumpkin. Up to this point we have not bothered thanks to them getting into everything.

I usually go with the scary look. My daughter likes fun! I end up doing ALL the work though because she hates the smell! Hoping when she gets older she'll be more into it! TGIF!

We carve silly or fun pumpkins over here. However, I don't think we'll be carving one this year. I just don't feel like it. lol

When my kids were young they each picked a pumpkin and would carve it as they pleased. They like picking ones with warts or odd shapes!
Now, sometimes I carve and sometimes I just place awesome looking pumpkins on the porch. The first pumpkin of this year is on the front porch. A medium lopsided pumpkin with an incredible corkscrew stem. That is why I bought it.

My husband and kids are the pumpkin carvers - I am usually in the background snapping pictures of them while they work. They like to try and carve scary jack-o-lantern faces.

I have to be honest and admit with shame that I don't like to carve pumpkins. But I do admire those that do!

I have carved all three, but now I leave it to my daughter to carve for her children. Now I just use them to decorate as they are.

I love carving pumpkins! I don't think ours are scary or silly. We each make one that looks like us, then we make one for Lucy too!

I like gutting them more than carving them. Pumpkin guts are cool.

I don't carve pumpkins anymore, but I wish I did! It's just too much of a mess with a toddler in the house. But if I did, I would make an elegant one!
Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest!

We love to carve pumpkins with boys 13, 8, and 7. They have done free-hand and stencil carvings. And the scarier the better!
