Booking Through Thursday, My First

Today's question is two-fold.

First, What books did you get for Christmas (or whichever holiday you may have celebrated last month)?

I received 7 books, all from the same author (by request).
  • The Corinthian by Georgette Heyer
  • The Foundling by Georgette Heyer
  • Arabella by Georgette Heyer
  • Devel's Cub by Georgette Heyer
  • Behold Here's Poison by Georgette Heyer
  • Death In the Stocks by Georgette Heyer
  • They Found Him Dead by Georgette Heyer
Second, Do you usually ask for books on gift-giving occasions or do you prefer to buy them yourself?

Both actually. I have a list ready if someone asks me what I would like for my Birthday or Christmas.

Anyone can play along each Thursday with Booking Through Thursday.

Nice list! I haven't read anything by Hayer, but I've been seeing her a lot lately. My books are not under BTT, but you can see them at The Crowded Leaf.

This is my first time responding too! I've never read anything by Georgette Hyer, but I see that she is a writer of historical romance and mystery. I'd like to check out some of her mysteries--that's my favorite genre!

You got quite a few books! It's awesome and a great choice for an author. She is one of my favorite murder mystery writers, every time I pick one of her books I now I will soon be laughing out loud!

I like getting books by one author or complete sets of books I've been wanting for Christmases and birthdays. Your list looks fun! Welcome to BTT too, btw.

This isn't my first time but it HAS been a great while since I've participated. This question was just too fun. Here's mine:

I've never read anything by Heyer. Looks like you really like her! :-) It can be fun to read one author's work for a while.

I've never read anything by Heyer, although I used to have a lot of her books - my mother was a fan and passed them on to me. I gave all those books away years ago, and now I'm kicking myself because they do sound like something I'd really love! There's a lesson there about never letting a book get away. Glad you got such a wonderful haul. Enjoy!

I am trying to read The Masqueraders by Heyer right now, I am having trouble with it though. I think it is the period language, any suggestions.

Looks like you really made out on Christmas! :)

I received The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein, American on Purpose by Craig Ferguson, and the first three books of the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. I sort of bought the Terry Goodkind books for myself, but my husband wrapped them. :-D

I do usually ask for books for Christmas! They are usually a nice, inexpensive present that people can get for me that I'll really enjoy!

Like you, I always have a list ready for special occasions :) I've never read anything by Georgette Heyer, but it looks like she may be a favorite of yours!

I was a very lucky girl this Christmas! Here is my BTT response.

I guess I just need to get better at keeping my list handy! It probably doesn't help that if my parents can't find it at Borders, it clearly must not exist, and thus they probably just shouldn't get me a book at all. lol. I love parental logic. Thanks for a great BTT!

I have only recently been hearing about Georgette Heyer on the book blogs - but I am not intrigued. I think I saw some of her titles at the local library - I am going to have to check her out - literally!

Lucky you! Whenever I find an author I like I always want to read all their books at once too!

I like both ways. I love to pick out my own books, but when someone else gets me one its usually one I might not have picked up. So either way is good for me :-)
