About the Book:

What keeps women from being their best? Joyce has been helping women better themselves by helping identify emotional barriers and physical, mental, and spiritual obstacles in their lives for years. Now she provides another answer-confidence.

Our society has an insecurity epidemic, women in particular. Compensating by pretending to be secure-a common response-only leads to feelings of shame. Lack of self-confidence causes great difficulty in relationships of all kinds, and in marriage instances can even lead to divorce.

In THE CONFIDENT WOMAN, Joyce explores the seven characteristics of a woman with confidence, which include a woman who knows she is loved, who refuses to live in fear, and who does not live by comparisons. Joyce explains that confidence stems from being positive in your actions and living honestly, but most importantly from having faith, in God and in ourselves.

My Review:

The Confident Woman by Joyce Meyer is written for women of all ages, to help woman to grow and become confident women. For those not familiar with Meyer's works, this is a very Bible orientated novel, beginning with Adam and Eve and how men and women should be equal, partners, not one more than the other. With her many references to Biblical passages, The Confident Woman would make an excellent book for a Bible study group. Meyer's briefly goes through women's roles throughout history leading to the many misconceptions women have and the image women think they are supposed to live up to. She writes at length about fear, the opposite of confidence and how fear leads women to become people-pleasers, giving up themselves to become what they think others think they should be. Throughout the book, Meyer's offers up numerous examples as well as solutions to the problems women face in society today. Reading The Confident Woman offers one a new insight into behaviours one may not have even known were not authentic to them. Meyer's does a superb job outlining the seven characteristics of a confident woman and how any woman can achieve them. Meyer makes herself quite clear that she is not writing about self-confidence, since according to her, that only comes after a woman's confidence is rooted in God. Her message is clear, at times redundant and very Biblically focused, yet one many woman can and will learn from.

I bought a Joyce Meyer book called The Confident Woman in 2006. Not sure if this is a rerelease/update or a totally different book by her with the same title. I still haven't finished my book and I am planning to this year as part of the nonfiction book challenge I am doing. Thanks for sharing your review. I found the link on Bookblogs.
