Booking Through Thursday - Break?

Do you take breaks while reading a book? Or read it straight through? (And, by breaks, I don’t mean sleeping, eating and going to work; I mean putting it aside for a time while you read something else.)

Not once in my four decades of reading, not even during my college lit/Russian lit years. Usually I cannot put a book down. I do not think I have the skill required to juggle more than one plot line, I have neither tried to nor do I plan to give it a go. I like to complete a book, digest it, and review the book before moving on to the next novel waiting to be read.

Anyone can play along each Thursday with Booking Through Thursday.

I can't say never but it's not very often. I prefer to give the book of the moment my full attention.

I can usually juggle a couple of books at a time. However, one usually takes over from the other. In the past I've done it from time to time but I find since I got an eReader that I do it more. The overlapping.

I rarely read more than one book at a time. I find it harder to pick up on all the little things that make a book special when I do.

When I go on vacation, I take about 10 books with me and read them one at a time. I bring a notepad so that I can write out my reviews after each one so that I don't forget what I enjoyed or didn't care for from each book.

I usually stick with one book too, but have been known to pick up another one.

But reading multiple books is such fun.

And my secret to immortality is a)always be reading at least one book and b)have a healthy pile of books you want to read. :)

It depends on the book for me...if it's a fiction book that's engaging and keeps me interested, it gets 'one-on-one' time-- or I, too, get confused on plots n such!
I always have a non-fiction book or two I'm browsing...so I guess I do book hop sometimes!

Good for you! Better than I am. If a book sucks I have to take breaks to get through it...

I take one book at a time and get hooked on it and can barely put it down.

lol@the topic.
I read several books at a time. Usually at least two fiction and two non-fiction. Fiction usually takes me 1 or 2 days. Non-fiction can take up to a couple of weeks. My reading speed depends on the relevancy of the deadline (if for work) and my level of interest.

As I also tend to collect books, it is not unusual for me to come across one that I half-read six months ago and will finish when I find it.

This is why my last birthday present was a Nook. I was told my living space needs to breathe, too. :)

There are three books I've had to take a break with. You can see them here.
